The brief

A specialist hospital in Abuja needed its critical services to keep running through utility outages, with a clear path to a full solar hybrid system later. We designed the system in stages. Stage one is the energy back-up, built so solar panels can be added without replacing the core equipment.

What we installed at the specialist hospital in Abuja

✓  13.8 kWh BYD B-BOX lithium battery storage (stage one of a planned 41.4 kWh)
✓  15 kVA 48 V Victron Quattro inverter/charger
✓  Remote and local control and monitoring
✓  Design ready for the solar hybrid stage

What stays on during an outage

The system provides energy back-up over a 24-hour period for:
•  All lights and ventilation
•  The X-ray machine, the laboratory and all critical medical equipment
•  All computers, network systems and security/CCTV
•  Air conditioners for the labour ward and theatre (emergency)
